Birthday Cake Tradition

In Western culture, a birthday cake is a cake that is served to a person for his birthday, usually decorated with the name of the person or greetings, and often with candles, one for each year of the celebrated .

In some countries there is a tradition to add an additional candle as a good omen. When the candles are lit, everyone (except the birthday boy) sing Happy Birthday.

Tradition has it that the celebrated should express a wish that will happen if you can turn off all the candles in one breath. On the other hand, some people make a wish if they fail with the first breath. Another tradition is to delete the name of the person for good luck, before cutting the cake and serve.

The birthday cakes are usually made of sponge, although other types go well. One of the most popular flavors is chocolate.

The U.S. patent number 6,319,530 relates to a method of reproducing an image on a medium to decorate edible cooked frozen. This invention enables printing ink a color photograph on the surface of edible cake.
