Tsunamis along the coast

When an energetic tsunami reaches shallow water and the land it runs, everything drags the water, with dramatic consequences for coastal communities.

Tsunami approaches the coast

When tsunamigolftop preceded by a trough, the sea itself draws first minutes back to an exceptionally low water, to hundreds of meters seaward. In addition to these items above the water that would otherwise never see his surprise and the fish out of water should be placed. Sees that, one must flee immediately to higher areas, but many people may be tempted to tidal sea to catch fish or looking for valuables. After a quarter to half hours, the Summit of the tsunami is inevitable. In other cases, approaching the crest first, and then there is no notice in the form of a temporarily retreating sea.

The first wave of the tsunami do not have the highest to be, it depends on local conditions in both the operative field and the exit area off, such as celebration of an earthquake and Complex reflections of the tsunami waves between islands and headlands in the affected coastal area.

Besides humans, animals, trees and buildings along the coast are also marine animals along the coast by the tsunami, like the dugong, which graze in relatively shallow water. Coral reefs can also be seriously damaged by a tsunami. Churned sand can live coral colonies creatures suffocate.

Island states in the Pacific such as Tuvalu and Kiribati, become completely overwhelmed by a large tsunami, because many of these islands are no more than five meters above sea protrude.
